Help on utilities TFor information on utilities, click an item in the topic list to the right or click an active area below. HThe are Documents dialog box compares two versions of a document. PThe ument Reports dialog box runs report generators that provide information on a document. YThe Client Info dialog box displays brief descriptions of the API client applications on your system. File menu > Utilities > Compare Documents File menu > Utilities > Compare Books (with a book window active) Dialog box where you compare two versions of a document for differences Min text, markers, footnotes, anchored frames, text flows, tables, variables, Jand cross-references. If FrameMaker finds differences between the 0documents, it produces the reports you specify. LYou can compare documents or book files. In either case, both files must be Cl Fopen in order to compare them. You should run the comparison from the newer version. Newer Document Newer Book 5Shows the name of the current document or book file. Older Document Older Book 3Specifies the document or book you want to compare ume 3to the current one. The pop-up menu lists all open wit *documents or books that have been named. Create Summary and Composite Documents Produces 2both a summary and a composite document. If there /are no differences, no documents are produced. .The summary document summarizes the number of -insertions and deletions and then shows each r 6difference and the page where it occurs. When 2comparing documents, FrameMaker names the )summary document Summary. When comparing /books, it names the summary document by adding %Summary to the newer book name. =The composite document is a onditional document /that merges the contents of both documents and 5marks the differences with condition indicators such =as underlines, strikethroughs, or colors. FrameMaker 2names the composite document by adding the suffix )CMP to the newer document or book name. 6When you compare books, FrameMaker produces a 4single summary document for the book and individual nu *composites for each document in the book. Summary Document Only Produces only a summary document. Options >Opens the Comparison Options dialog box where you .specify how to distinguish differences in the 0composite document and whether to add hypertext 5links in the summary document. Hypertext links allow 9you to quickly display a page in either of the versions. Dialog box where you specify how the differences in the composite Ddocument are marked and whether hypertext links are inserted in the Fsummary document. You open this dialog box by clicking Options in the CCompa re Documents Compa re Books dialog box. Mark Insertions is /Conditionalizes inserted text in the composite ces #document so it s easy to identify. Condition Tag: Inserted Applies the default yp @condition tag Inserted , which displays inserted text in he green with an underline. Custom Condition Tag Applies a custom condition .tag to inserted text. You can create your own ?condition tags using the Edit Condi tion Tag dialog < Nothing Specifies that the insertions not be conditional ized. Mark Deletions With .Conditionalizes deleted text in the composite #document so it s easy to identify. Condition Tag: Deleted Applies the default rea >condition tag Deleted , which displays deleted text in red with a strikethrough. Custom Condition Tag Applies a custom condition 3tag to deleted text. You create your own condition :tags using the Edit Condition Tag dialog box. Replacement Replaces deleted text with the 8text in this text box. To leave deleted text out of the 5composite document, click this button and delete the contents of the text box. Mark Changes with Change Bars 4Inserts a change bar in the margin of the composite !document wherever changes occur. Create Hypertext Links in Summary /Makes the summary document view only and marks th 0the page numbers with hypertext links. When you le -click a page number in the summary document, FrameMaker opens the correct document and displays the page in question. File menu Utilities > Document Reports Dialog box where you start a report generator that has been created and Linstalled on your system. For example, you could have report generators for Bsupplying information on a document s paragraph formats, variable Ndefinitions, spot colors, various types of errors, and so on. For information on ordering the FDK r 5and its documentation, see Getting Started >As a sample, the Word Count report generator is provided with FrameMaker . It counts the words on body pages of a FrameMaker Fdocument, including words in text lines, variables, cross-references, Ffootnotes, tables, and table titles. The results appear in an alert. Report 4Specifies the report you want to generate. The list 1displays all report generators available on your g system. About 6Displays an alert that briefly describes the selected report generator. Report Generates the report. File menu Utilities > API Client Info Dialog box where you get information about the available API clients on Jyour system. If no API clients are installed, the API Client Info command appears gray. API Clients 4Specifies the report on which you want information. About 8Displays an alert containing a brief description of the selected API client.
